so, i decided to blog this month’s recipes all at once. i made the berry galettes last week and the popovers tonight…

these berry galettes were super easy. AND super good ๐Ÿ™‚ i used blueberries in one and rainier cherries in the other. these things did NOT last long at all!

the cherries were waiting their turn. i had strawberries, but decided to let the kids go to town on them, lol, just to keep them out of the blueberries and the cherries!

waiting impatiently for this to cool down…

gooey, warm, sparkly sugar…

the cherry one was tart more than sweet. perfect compliment to the sweet blueberries ๐Ÿ™‚

now pics of the popovers… i wasn’t impressed with these.

batter went well.

i didn’t see them again until 25 minutes later…..

no puffiness ๐Ÿ˜ฆ don’t know what happened there at all.

this is with the rest of supper. everyone’s comment about them: “they’re not bad.”

for the gallete recipe: and

and for the popovers recipe: and

lol, i wanted to get the berry galettes done on the 7th, it was my birthday, after all, and then, i wanted to post for julia child’s 100th birthday, but you all can see how that went, huh? lol

  1. Gorgeous galettes, no wonder you loved them! Can it be that you forgot the eggs in the popover batter? Thatยดs one of the reasons the donยดt rise.

no, it had all 3 eggs, lol, because it used the last 3 eggs i had ๐Ÿ™‚ not sure why they didn’t rise, but my hubby ate 5 of them, so i do consider them a success, just not pretty ๐Ÿ˜‰

Oh no! Forgetting the eggs was my thought also ~ so very strange. At least they did not go to waste! Your galettes are beautiful. Happy belated birthday!! <:~)

  3. Your galettes are beautiful. With the popovers, could it be that your oven is not heating evenly. We had this problem in the past and the result is that cake batters or breads either do not rise at all, or completely explode, depending on whether the temperature is too low or too high? Great job.

    • vrolok1977 says:

that is a thought. it is an electric oven, and it seems lately that i have to tone the temp down a little. seems to get too hot. i’ll ask my hubby how to check into that!

  4. Cher says:

A great two-fer post! Lovely job!

  5. Teresa says:

Love your choices for the galette fillings! It’s too bad about the popovers – I hope you figure out the issue and try again, because they’re quite lovely when they actually rise.
